Error when accessing attachments.
Status: Reviewed
Version(s): 10.0, 10.1, 11.0, 11.1, 12.0, 12.1, 13.0, 9.0, 9.1

Problem: When attempting to access a file attached to a Contract Management document, the following message displays:

This attachment has been moved or deleted.  Do you want to delete this row?

The attachment displays the ‘Cannot open attachment’ icon:

Problem: Invalid path or filename error when accessing attachments
Problem: Red slash through open Attachment icon
Cause: The Contract Management Web/Application server cannot access the file attached for one of the following reasons:

  • The attached document has been moved or deleted.

  • The path to the attached document indicates a directory location to which the Contract Management Web/Application server does not have access.

  • The Contract Management service does not have the required Domain User Account login established in the service properties.

  • The attachment location directory must consist of UNC mapping if the directory resides on a network share and not directly on the Contract Management Web/Application server machine.
Fix:

The Path indicates where the file existed at the time it was attached.  Verify that the path is accessible from the Contract Management Web/Application server and that the file exists in this location.

For example, in the screen shot below, the license.txt file would need to exist in D:\My Documents\ on the Contract Management  Web/Application server machine to be accessed.

Fix: Contract Management must run as a domain user in order to access UNC paths.
